Carolina Crossroads
A substack dedicated to the history, culture, and politics of North Carolina
Hello current (and new) subscribers, if you were a part of this page up until this point then you joined while this was the official substack of the North Carolina Forward Party. So bad news, this page will no longer exclusively represent the opinions of NC Forward and affiliated members. However, the good news is that the growth of NC Forward has grown our reach to more and more great minds with a diversity of talents. I, the author Evan Hess, will be taking over this page as a personal substack still dedicated to the NC Forward mission. This newfound freedom will allow me to pursue topics and interests that may not necessarily align or be condoned by my fellow party members.
I consider this an upgrade, you may not which is why I write this message to you now. This movement has a very fine line of what is our party message and our personal opinions. In pursuit of building a data driven and people powered platform, we need more voices. To that end, this page will dedicate itself to a specific mission tying together our shared history, new and old traditions, and politics. That’s all I can promise and all I can pursue for now.
I ask you, the audience, to provide me with honest feedback on my positions, my arguments, and my writing. So long as provided in good faith, I will consider all criticism. I only ask it be constructive; a task that will be no doubt easy. For I have had many arguments and discussions with members of Forward, some friendly and some not. They have always been civil and I expect that won’t change. It’s the thing that makes this party so great. Through shared community and passion, we seek a common goal for the benefit of all of our fellow Americans.
That’s why we’re more than a party, we’re a movement.
